At approximately 7:45 AM on June 12 2021, 26-year-old RCMP Constable Shelby Patton was following a truck, with two passengers, reported stolen from Manitoba. He initiated a traffic stop in the town of Wolseley, Saskatchewan. During the course of the stop, while outside of his police vehicle, Cst. Patton was struck and killed by the suspect vehicle. The suspects fled the scene. Members of the public rendered medical assistance until first responders arrived. With the help of local farmers, the two suspects were located hiding in a field and arrested.

Constable Patton had just over six years of service spending most of that with the Indian Head Detachment. He leaves behind a wife.

Our condolences go out to his wife, family, friends and colleagues. He will be remembered.
