At approximately 7:45 AM on June 12 2021, 26-year-old RCMP Constable Shelby Patton was following a truck, with two passengers, reported stolen from Manitoba. He initiated a traffic stop in the town of Wolseley, Saskatchewan. During the course of the stop, while outside of his police vehicle, Cst. Patton was struck and killed by the suspect vehicle.
