Motor Vehicle Accident

Lévis Police

On Monday September 7, 2009 Cst. Mélanie Roy of the Lévis Police was killed after her police cruiser crashed in Lévis, Quebec, just south of Quebec City.

She was answering an emergency call with another cruiser on Highway 20 around 8:15 a.m. when her car lost control. The cruiser flipped several times and struck a viaduct pillar. The officer was pronounced dead in hospital.

The 22-year-old policewoman was travelling alone in her vehicle at the time of the crash. The crash led to the shutdown of Highway 20 west, and an investigation is underway. She worked for the Lévis police only since June. The other Levis Police vehicle was not involved in the accident.
