Motor Vehicle Incident

RCMP Strathcona County

On Monday April 10, 2023 at approximately 2:00 AM, Strathcona County RCMP Cst. Harvinder Singh Dhami, while responding to an urgent request for support from a fellow officer, was killed in a single vehicle incident.

Cst. Dhami was responding to an urgent request to assist a fellow officer in the process of effecting two arrests on Township Road 540 near the northeast edge of Edmonton. The road was a dead end and very dark when he collided with a concrete barrier near the North Saskatchewan River, which serves as the border between the city and the county. He was 32 years old.

Cst. Dhami graduated from the RCMP Academy in Regina in 2019 and was posted to Strathcona County in Alberta. He was always professional with a great sense of humour. “He had one of the most positive attitudes. No matter what was thrown his way, he was always ready to do his part,” said said RCMP superintendent Dale Kendall.

Cst. Dhami is survived by his wife. Our condolences go out to his wife, family, friends and colleagues. He will be remembered.
