Laval Sgt./Det. Daniel Tessier was shot dead in a drug bust on Friday, March 2, 2007. Tessier was shot in the head during a pre-dawn raid in the South Shore of Montreal suburb of Brossard on Friday March 2, 2007 where Laval police were executing search warrants to break up what they say was a cocaine trafficking ring. Tessier’s partner, Cst. Stéphane Forbes, was shot in the arm but is in stable condition. A civilian was also shot during the incident, and police arrested a man and a woman who were in the home at the time.

About 30 police officers were carrying out eight search warrants in Laval and Brossard when the shooting occurred. Tessier, Forbes and at least four other officers had entered a house on Rimouski Street in Brossard just after 5 a.m. ET when the shots rang out. Both officers and the civilian were rushed to hospital in ambulances.

Tessier leaves behind his wife, who is also a police officer, and his two daughters, aged 10 and 12.
