On April 27, 2026, at approximately 5:30 PM, Ontario Provincial Police Sergeant Brandon Malcolm was killed in a motorcycle crash on Highway 401 in Cobourg Ontario.

On Monday April 27, 2026, 33-year-old Sergeant Brandon Malcolm, of the Ontario Provincial Police Northumberland Detachment in the OPP’s Central Region, was killed in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on Highway 401 near Burnham Street North in Cobourg Ontario.

Sgt. Malcolm joined the OPP in June 2020 and served his entire career with the Northumberland Detachment. He was also a member of the Golden Helmets precision motorcycle riding team. Prior to joining the OPP, Sgt. Malcolm was an auxiliary member of the Toronto Police Service for more than six years, eventually becoming a sergeant where he went to the Community Policing Engagement Unit, mentoring new auxiliary officers. As a volunteer auxiliary officer, he regularly attended community events on behalf of the TPS from parades to charity fundraiser.

Sgt. Malcolm also served a time with the Canadian Armed Forces. He was a highly respected and trusted as a leader who fostered a supportive environment.

Sgt. Brandon Malcolm leaves behind a wife and two children. Our condolences go out to his wife and children, family, friends and colleagues. He will be remembered.
