Gunfire

RCMP Spiritwood Detachment

On July 7, 2006 Cst. Marc Bourdages and Cst. Robin Cameron, both from the Spiritwood Detachment, were responding to an assault call when they were shot in a gun battle after a 27 kilometer chase.

Three constables were involved in the pursuit with the suspect’s vehicle at about 9 pm on a dirt road south of Mildred, Saskatchewan. One member returned fire at the suspect. It is unknown if he was shot. The suspect then left his vehicle and fled on foot.

The constables, in critical condition, were transported to a hospital in Saskatoon.

Both constables succumbed to their injuries eight days later.

Cst. Cameron had served with the RCMP for 5 years. She is survived by her 11-year-old daughter.
