Motor Vehicle Incident

Manitoba Corrections

On Thursday November 6 a van transporting six prisoners to Dauphin from The Pas, a small town in Manitoba, crashed, killing 44-year-old Manitoba Corrections Officer Rhonda Commodore.

C.O. Rhonda Commodore, the passenger, along with her partner were transporting six prisoners to Dauphin in a Corrections Van. At approximately 9:45 AM they were travelling on Highway 10 about 45 kms south of The Pas when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a ditch. C.O. Commodore was ejected from the vehicle as it came to a rest inside the tree line along side of the highway. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Road conditions may have contributed to the crash. The driver and six prisoners received minor injuries and were taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Rhonda was a single mother of a young son. She is survived by her parents.

Our condolences go out to Rhonda Commodore’s family, friends and colleagues.
